Below are images of two five string Violins: Many years ago I was asked to make five string violins but declined having seen some poor attempts. Now with modern string technology and five string violins being made with a body length of 14 1/2" but keeping the same finger spacing as a standard violin these make for a really interesting instrument.
The overtones and harmonics achieved with the five string are totally different than standard violin.
